After leading a Bible study for mothers with young children for almost two years, I began to notice something: sitting down with a Bible study every day, along with an hour of homework, can feel difficult…sometimes even daunting.
For some of us, the homework became another box to check off the list. But Bible study, quiet time, devotional time (whatever you call it) was never meant to be just another task on our to-do list.
We are meant to hunger for the Scriptures.
And here’s the beautiful thing: it does not have to look perfect. It does not require a quiet house, a warm cup of coffee, and soft worship music playing in the background.
God meets you where you are.
If you are sitting in the stillness of nature, He will meet you there.
If you are in a doctor’s office with sick children, He will meet you there.
If you are at home with your wild, feral children running and screaming around you, He will meet you there too.
God is present whether you think it is a good time or not.
So my encouragement to you is this: make plans with Jesus. Make the date. Show up.
He will meet you on your couch as you open your Bible, read the passage, journal and answer the daily questions. Just come as you are. I promise, He will be there waiting for you.
In fact, He is waiting for you… right now. He is calling you by name. Go sit with Him.
